  JAPANESE   STUDENT   ITINERARY

 This is a sample - obtain current program information from the school office.

October 3rd - Wednesday
4:00 pm  Arrival of Guest Chaperones and Students at Main Newport Beach Library on Avocado, 
Hosting familes and Chaperones to greet their guests to take home. 
 
October 4th - Thursday
 All Students:  School all day / Evening with Family 
              Parents responsible for students’ transportation.
 Chaperones: -   7:45 a.m Meet at CdM
8:00 – 9:30 am Visit with Corona Del Mar High School
10:00 – 12:00 pm Visit with Ensign Middle School (one Principal)
12:00 – 12:45 Lunch (hosted by Misty and Justin)
1:00 – 2:30 pm Visit with Newport Harbor High School (One Assistant Principal)
6:00 – 8:00 Dinner (hosted by Dan Hoffmann and Gary Hensley)
Dress Code: Business Casual (Note: all events are business casual unless otherwise indicated) 
 
October 5th - Friday
All Students:   8:48 – 9:48 am: Assembly at Corona Del Mar High School (Formal).  
Parents responsible for students’ transportation; carpooling encouraged.   Arrive at 8:30 to obtain
required parking pass (From school office). 
Chaperones: Please meet at 8:15 am at CdM
           8:30 – 8:48 am Meet and Greet before the assembly (Two Principals)
           8:55 – 9:48 Assembly at Corona Del Mar High School (Formal)
           10:30 – 12:00 Costa Mesa High School 
           12:00 – 12:45 Lunch (hosted by American Chaperones)
           1:00 – 2:30 Newport Elementary School (One Principal)
 ***  After School on Friday no NBSCA or Rotary Events Planned until Sunday Noon ***
 *** This is your time to host your guest to your American Lifestyle ***
 
October 6th - Saturday
Students:    Hosting families to spend day together with parents 
Chaperones:    Hosting Chaperones to spend the day with guests. 
  
October 7th - Sunday
All Students, Parents and Chaperones:
12:00 to 3:30 PM – Good ole’ American Family Picnic Celebrating Fun & Friendship
WHERE:    Irvine Terrace Park (Thomas, 919, E/1, or Google Map)
TO BRING:  Your own picnic food (except sweets), lawnchairs, blankets, sunscreen, balls, frisbee,
 Sweets provided by NBSCA 
WHAT IS GOING ON:  Ikebana and Origami demonstrations, Entertainment by Japanese students
        
October 8th - Monday
All Students:   8:00 – 1:00 School
                          1:30 – 3:00 Newport Mesa Unified School District Reception (Corner of Bear and Baker) (Formal)
·         Parents provide transportation Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking.
·         Parents are welcomed to participate at the Reception.
·         All students will have an opportunity to ask District Personnel Questions.
 
Chaperones:     8:00 – 12:00 Discovery Science Center (Science Museum)
                            1:30 – 3:00 Newport Mesa District Reception (Formal)
 
Evening:  All Students and Chaperones:  ROTARY FAMOUS BBQ and PUMPKIN CARVING EVENT (Casual)
TIME:    6:00 to 8:30 PM
WHERE:   Pool Area in center on Private Road. Check Thomas Guide 889, C/3 or Google Map.
NOTE:   Bring warm clothes. Ladies wear flat shoes; the event is on a lawn!
TO BRING?  Great mood and creativity (students) for the pumpkin carving! Hosted by NBSCA.
EVENTS:   Pumpkin Carving contest, Entertainment by the Japanese Students.
 
October 9th - Tuesday
All Students and Chaperones:  Rotary Day 8:00 to 4:00 PM
Parents Drop-off Students:  8:00 AM (sharp) – Newport Library, Avocado
Parents Pickup Students: 4 to 4:15 pm – Newport Aquatic Center, off Whitecliffs 
                        (Thomas Guide 889, C/6); or Google Map) 
BRING: Bathing suit, additional T-shirt, small towel, Boogie board, sunscreen, hat
Note:  We have space constraint in the car! Detailed schedule to be provided. 
All Students:  Evening
With parents (bonfire at the beach?), packing to return to Japan. 
Chaperones: Evening
7:00 PM - Attendance at the Newport Beach City Council Meeting (FORMAL) 
8:00 - ?? PM:  Celebration Dinner at the Newport Landing Restaurant
 
October 10th - Wednesday
All Guest Students and Chaperones:  Departure to Japan
   Meet at Newport Main Library, Avocado AT 5:45 AM to say good-bye and drop off Guests for Shuttle to LAX.

Additional Information relating to the Assembly:
·         Parents are welcomed to attend.
·         Japanese students will perform and need to bring all equipment with them.  
   Please make sure that audio (CDs) are properly working.
·         Japanese Head Chaperone & 1 Japanese student to deliver a short speech at Assembly.
·         Special Note American Students. Let your 1st through 3rd period teachers know you 
   will miss for a school event. Parents provide transportation.Carpooling encouraged.
