Below is a sample itinerary of the American Students activities when visiting Antibes, France from
a previous year.
April 1st, Friday: 10.00 AM arrival at Nice airport – greeting by hosting families and Antibes
Jumelages (French Sister City Association).
April 2nd, Saturday: Visit of the old town of Antibes, and Picasso and Peynet Museums -
tickets offered by Antibes Jumelages. This is very picturesque, mostly a pedestrian
area, with cobbled stones on the narrow streets and lovely boutiques and cafes
along the way.
April 3rd, Sunday: Day with the host family (activity varies with each family).
April 4th, Monday: Classes at the Lycee Audiberti (local high school) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 pm. Reception and buffet offered by Antibes Jumelages at 6:30 pm.
April 5th, Tuesday: Classes at the high school.
April 6th, Wednesday: Special celebration day at the high school. (I do not have any detail on
this event, but it is organized at the high school and is suppose to be fun).
April 7th, Thursday: Bus trip to Biot (glass blowing factory); Grasse (perfume factory); and Gourdon (medieval village). Departure from the high school at 8:45 AM – return at 5:30 PM - lunch at Mac Donalds offered by Antibes Jumelages. This should be a very pleasant day of sightseeing. Also, it is very interesting to see how the French collect the flower petals to make perfumes and how beautiful glass items are made.
April 8th, Friday: Classes at the high school.
April 9th and 10th, Saturday & Sunday: Activities with the host family.
April 11th, Monday: Boat trip to Iles de Lerins (Ste Marguerite, where you will visit the prison cell of the man with the iron mask). It is a short boat trip from Cannes and you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the coast. Picnic on the island. Visit of Cannes, famous city for its “Film festival” and luxurious yachts. Departure from the railway station in Juan-Les-Pins around 9:00 AM – return at 5:30 PM (train tickets offered by Antibes Jumelages). Shopping in Cannes.
April 12th, Tuesday: Departure at 6:00 am. Flight from Nice Airport, 7:35 am.
